Oakover Grounds, Swan Valley: Wines at cellar door

This is the home of Oakover Wines, and vineyards were first established here in the 1850s. If you just want to treat Oakover Grounds as a winery, then you can rock up to the cellar door for wine-tasting. Wines from the Clockwork range, Nicholas Signature Range and Ministry of Leisure range are available for tasting.

Oakover Grounds also offers a café/ restaurant, the Smokehouse, which specialises in platters. What’s perhaps a little unusual about this winery restaurant is that it is open for breakfast at weekends. The breakfasts are deliberately made with Swan Valley ingredients wherever possible.

This Swan Valley Winery also sells artisan coffee from three local roasters. These are Northbridge Coffee Roasters in Perth, Crema Coffee in Canning Vale and Fiori in the Swan Valley.

Swan Valley Marketplace

Perhaps the most unusual offering at Oakover Grounds, however, is the Swan Valley Marketplace. This is a highly distinctive cash and carry operation, selling local Swan Valley produce and imported European goods. It opened in 2020, and membership is free to anyone with an Australian Business Number.

In one visit you might pick up mustards and chutneys from Random Harvest, goodies from the locally-based Morish Nuts Range and Estonian crisps from Grand Chips. The Swan Valley Marketplace also sells cheeses from the Blue Cow Cheese Company.
