Fishery Beach in Bremer Bay, Western Australia, is a protected swimming beach. Orca-watching tours also depart from here.

Where is Fishery Beach?

Fishery Beach is a beach in Bremer Bay, Western Australia. It is a 7km drive south of the town centre, along Swarbrick Road.

Is Fishery Beach the best beach in Bremer Bay?

There are several more impressive beaches in Bremer Bay. Dillon Beach, Foster Beach and Bremer Beach are much longer and more visually stunning.

Fishery Beach is relatively short – it’s about 250 metres long.

Is it safe to swim at Fishery Beach, Bremer Bay?

The main advantage of Fishery Beach is that it is a relatively safe place to swim. Unusually for somewhere on the south coast of Western Australia, this Bremer Bay beach faces north.

This means it gets a lot of protection from the big swells of the Southern Ocean.

The calm conditions are also aided by the curving breakwater that was constructed in the 1990s.

If you are planning on swimming at Fishery Beach, you may wish to bring a snorkel with you. There are seagrass beds just off shore, and this tends to attract a lot of marine life.

Why should I visit Fishery Beach?

Aside from the safe swimming conditions, the main reason to visit Fishery Beach is that this is where the orca-watching tours depart from. These tours head out to the Bremer Canyon for Australia’s most reliable orca sightings, and should be booked online in advance.
