Crowdy Bay National Park is a coastal national park between Taree and Port Macquarie on the north coast of New South Wales. If your on a road trip from Sydney to Coffs Harbour, or Newcastle to Byron Bay, you can easily add it to the itinerary.

This New South Wales national park is best known for its crowd-free beaches and native wildlife.

Crowdy Bay National Park walking tracks

There are several good walking tracks within Crowdy Bay National Park. At the simpler end of the scale, the 0.7km Metcalfes walking track between Indian Head and Kylies Beach is well known for koala sightings.

Then there’s the 1.4km return Mermaid Lookout Track from Diamond Head. This walk takes in several rocky coves plus sweeping views of Dunbogan Beach and North Brother Mountain.

Elsewhere, the 1.5km Forest walking track focuses on the rainforest and grassland, and the 4.3km Diamond Head Loop Track from the Diamond Head campground acts as something of a highlights reel.

Crowdy Bay National Park campgrounds

The Diamond Head campground is a well-known kangaroo hangout, but it’s not the only place to pitch a tent within the park.

Other Crowdy Bay National Park camping options include the Crowdy Gap campround in the south, plus the Kylies Beach campground and Indian Head campground further north.

There are also several pleasant picnic areas and surf spots. The Endless Summer surf school offers surfing lessons at North Haven and Diamond Head.

Crowdy Bay National Park entry fee

Entry to the Crowdy Bay National Park costs $8 per vehicle per day. This can be paid at the Diamond Head campground office.
