Uluru Park Pass: National park entry fee cost

Uluru Park Pass: National park entry fee cost

The Uluru Park Pass is essentially the entry fee to the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The version of most interest to visitors costs $38 for three days.

Despite being in the middle of nowhere, Uluru is justifiably one of the most popular attractions in Australia. Even cynics tend to be impressed when they see the big red rock up close.

What is the Uluru Park Pass?

But one thing that many visitors to Uluru don’t expect is the entry fee (aka the Uluru Park Pass). There is a charge to visit the Red Centre’s major attraction, as it is part of a national park.

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is managed by Parks Australia and proceeds from the Uluru Park Pass go towards the upkeep of the park. They also go towards sustaining the Indigenous communities of traditional owners within the region.

Uluru Park Pass cost

The pass is not unreasonably priced, however. The Uluru Park Pass pass covers three days, and costs $38 per person. This for adults – there is no charge for under-18s. This national park fee covers both Uluru and nearby Kata Tjuta.

There is also a $50 per person annual Uluru Park Pass available, although this is unlikely to be of much interest to most overseas visitors.

Uluru entry fee for Northern Territory residents

Residents of the Northern Territory can also get an annual pass for their vehicle, which covers all the passengers inside it. This costs $109.

Where to buy an Uluru Park Pass

Uluru Park Passes should be booked online at the Parks Australia website. However, you can also buy one on entry to the national park.

Do tour prices include the Uluru Park Pass?

One thing that you should know when visiting Uluru is that tours don’t tend to include the cost of the Uluru Park Pass. There is a logic to this, as the assumption is that most visitors will be going into the national park more than once – likely at both sunrise and sunset. There is little point in doubling up on the national park entry fee – including it in the tour price would make the tour unnecessarily expensive for people who have already bought their Uluru Park Pass.

So if you haven’t already got your pass, prepare to add another $38 to the cost of a Segway tour, guided base walk or sunset tour.
