The other way of reaching Wineglass Bay is on a not inconsiderable walk through the Freycinet National Park from Coles Bay. Taking a Wineglass Bay cruise cuts out the lengthy bushwalk.

Coles Bay cruise attractions

The four-and-a-half hour tour starts at Coles Bay, and takes in the Freycinet National Park waterways.

Attractions on the Wineglass Bay cruise include the pink mountain tops of the Hazards Range and a series of white sand beaches. The likes of Cooks Beach and Bryans Beach can only otherwise be reached on a day long bushwalk.

Schouten Island in Freycinet National Park

The Freycinet National Park cruise also heads up the inner passage of Schouten Island. Here, there’s a good chance of seeing short-tailed shearwaters – otherwise known as muttonbirds – and little penguins.

On the way to Wineglass Bay, the guides try to explain the history of the region, including Aboriginal culture and tales of early European settlers.
