Perth to Margaret River road trip: Bunbury to Busselton

The Bunbury to Busselton leg of the Perth to Margaret River drive is 53km long. There are some excellent beaches along the way. First come Dalyellup Beach from Dalyellup and Stirling Beach from Stratham.

But these are mere warm-up acts for the 14km long beach near Capel known as Peppermint Grove Beach at the northern end, and Forrest Beach in the south. You can also visit the massive old trees in Tuart Forest National Park – a notoriously good place for spotting possums.

Once in Busselton, the top attraction is the absolutely enormous Busselton Jetty. Get to the end of it, and you can do an ocean floor walk while wearing an emormous diving helmet.

Other things to do in Busselton include Geographe Bay whale-watching cruises on Geographe Bay, a high ropes and zipline adventure and spotting woylies on a nocturnal wildlife tour.

Busselton accommodation costs from $132 a night.
