The most famous attraction in Currumbin is the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. This Gold Coast wildlife park offers a wealth of shows concentrating on different creatures and Aboriginal culture.

There’s also a great collection of native Australian animals on display – it’s a stone cold winner for kids, and tickets cost from $54.95.

The Currumbin Alley is a classic all-rounder, with consistent but friendly waves making it ideal for beginner surfers. Meanwhile families can swim and kayak safely in the estuary, where there are no waves to contend with.

The Currumbin Alley Surf School offers surfing lessons here, while the Currumbin Boatshed hires out kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.

The main Currumbin accommodation option is the Rocks Resort. Expect spacious self-contained apartments looking out over the pool and beach.

The Currumbin Rock Pools, popular for swimming and rope swings, are a 15 minute drive away rather than in the town itself.
