The Balgownie Estate is a vineyard, resort, restaurant and spa complex, covering 30 hectares. It is a destination not just to pop into for an hour or so, but to stay at.
Eatery at Balgownie Yarra Valley
About an hour’s drive from Melbourne CBD, this winery resort is currently rebuilding its restaurant and cellar door. Never fear, though, for it has temporarily erected the Eatery at Balgownie Yarra Valley – a huge marquee where food and drinks are served. The Eatery at Balgownie Yarra Valley is open daily for wine tasting, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Options on the menu include local grazing platters made with cheese from the Yarra Valley Dairy. More substantial main meals include Yarra Valley Pasta pumpkin ravioli, pan-seared snapper with pickled kohlrabi and crispy Thai-infused pork belly.
Balgownie Estate accommodation
For those stopping overnight, the Balgownie Estate is one of the largest hotels in the Yarra Valley, with 70 rooms and suites.
