Rochford Wines in the Yarra Valley, Victoria, offers two cellar doors, gin tasting, a restaurant, a pizzeria and live music events.
Rochford Wines in Coldstream, just outside Healesville, is one of the most impressive wineries in the Yarra Valley, Victoria.
Cellar doors at Rochford Wines
It’s a large complex with two cellar doors. Most wine-tastings take place at the Rochford Cellar Door. Should you be up for a more informative, educational tasting, Rochford Wines offers wine flights. These flights serve up five wines in 30ml measures, showcasing the range of wines grown in the Yarra Valley. The Estate Wine flight is cheapest, at $12, and includes a pinot gris, chardonnay, pinot noir, cabernet and syrah. You can also book wine flights focusing on different varietals. Alternatively, spend $18 on the premium wines in the single vineyard flight.
Tastings are also available at the Toolangi Cellar Door, which is next to Il Vigneto Pizza. This highly-rated pizza restaurant is on a different part of the estate. The Toolangi Cellar Door is next to it to ensure those going for pizza can do a tasting, too.
Isabellas’s Restaurant at Rochford Wines
Isabella’s Restaurant is the main dining destination at the Rochford Winery, however. There’s a choice between a set menu and the casual dining menu, which includes the likes of wagyu steaks and grilled barramundi.
Rochford Wines also has a gin bar, which serves up distinctive gins. These gins, infused with the Rochford Winery’s shiraz, pinot noir and chardonnay, are a collaboration with the Alchemy Distillery in the Yarra Valley.
What the Rochford Winery is best known for, however, is its live music events. Rochford Wines has been hosting indoor and outdoor concerts for 15 years, turning the Yarra Valley into a music destination. For more information, visit the winery website.
Getting to the Rochford Winery
Just off the Maroondah Highway, the Rochford Winery is just under an hour’s drive of Melbourne. A visit can easily be combined with visits to other Yarra Valley hotspots, such as Yering Station, Balgownie Estate and the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie.
