Mallacoota accommodation: Should I stay at the Mallacoota caravan park?

The Mallacoota caravan park in East Gippsland is one of the best-located Mallacoota accommodation options. But facilities for campers and caravanners are a little limited.

Mallacoota in East Gippsland, Victoria, is one of the most underrated towns in Australia. It’s on the scenic Mallacoota Inlet, and offers easy access to the Croajingolong National Park and Gabo Island.

But if you’re looking for Mallacoota accommodation, is the Mallacoota caravan park worth considering? Well, it depends on taste and how you’re travelling. If you prefer luxury or boutique accommodation, Australian caravan parks are probably not for you. If you’re heading round the country in a campervan, then the Mallacoota caravan park might just be ideal.

Mallacoota caravan park location

The Mallacoota Foreshore Holiday Park (as it’s officially called) is in a fabulous location. It’s a short walk from the Mallacoota Inlet, and pretty much in the centre of town. This is unusual by the standards of Australian caravan parks, which are often slightly inconveniently located.

However, the Mallacoota caravan park is run by the East Gippsland Shire Council rather than one of the big holiday park chains. You shouldn’t expect the same level of facilities, or plusher accommodation options such as cabins and chalets.
