Driving the Nullarbor: What are the best stops between Ceduna and Norseman?

Nullarbor fuel stops between Ceduna and Norseman

The distances between Nullarbor fuel stops, travelling east to west, are as follows:

  • Ceduna to Penong, South Australia: 73km.
  • Penong to Nundroo: 82km
  • Nundroo to Nullarbor Roadhouse: 142km
  • Nullarbor Roadhouse to Border Village: 184km
  • Border Village to Eucla, Western Australia: 12km
  • Eucla to Mundrabilla: 66km
  • Mundrabilla to Madura: 116km
  • Madura to Cocklebiddy: 91km
  • Cocklebiddy to Caiguna: 65km
  • Caiguna to Balladonia: 181km (this section includes the notorious 90 Mile Straight – the longest straight road in Australia)
  • Balladonia to Norseman: 191km

These fuel stops are mostly roadhouses offering fairly basic food and accommodation as well. But when preparing a Nullarbor road trip, you should always plan for at least one of the roadhouses being out of fuel. Make sure there’s enough fuel in the tank to cover at least two sections of the journey.

Driving the Nullarbor: Away from the Eyre Highway

Some of the Nullarbor roadhouses are more interesting than others, but they all host holes of the Nullarbor Links. This is supposedly the world’s longest golf course, and it stretches all the way from Ceduna to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. And quirks such as the Nullarbor Links indicate that driving across the Nullarbor isn’t quite as boring as the reputation suggests.

The secret to making the most of the drive across the Nullarbor is being prepared to detour off the Eyre Highway every now and then. The Nullarbor’s best attractions require a short branch-off from the roadhouses.
