Horrocks Beach, WA: Things to do & accommodation

In the small west coast town of Horrocks, Horrocks Beach offers fishing off the jetty, white sand and an offshore reef.

Horrocks is a small beach town on the Mid West coast of Western Australia. You might choose to visit on the drive from Geraldton to Kalbarri, and it lies almost just east of Northampton.

If you do choose to visit Horrocks, Western Australia, chances are Horrocks Beach will be your target. This white sand Indian Ocean beach is a stunner, and one that offers much more than just lying on the sand.

Things to do at Horrocks Beach, WA: Horrocks Beach jetty

The focal point of Horrocks Beach is the jetty towards the southern end. The Horrocks Beach jetty is massively popular with anglers, who cast a line out from there.

Come in late spring, however, and there are much bigger things in the water than mere fish. This is the time when humpback whales come back on their migration south. There’s a specially-constructed whale-watching platform on the Horrocks Road into town if you want the best views.

Things to do at Horrocks Beach, WA: Reef and rock pools

Horrocks Beach is not patrolled by lifeguards, but it’s a relatively safe place to swim. Coral reef surrounds the bay, keeping conditions fairly calm. You can usually walk along part of the reef, and around the nearby rock pools, at low tide.

The key thing to bear in mind about Horrocks is that it is an unashamedly low key fishing town. You won’t find many facilities here, and your dining options are pretty much fish and chips or whatever you can cook yourself from the small general store.

Horrocks Beach accommodation: Horrocks Beach Caravan Park

For Horrocks Beach accommodation, the best bet is the Horrocks Beach Caravan Park. This caravan park offers camping sites as well as two bedroom holiday units.

However, if you’re just coming to enjoy Horrocks Beach for a few hours, there’s enough to keep you occupied. There are public toilets, and a children’s playground just to the south of them.
