Home and Away studios
Well, most scenes in Home and Away are filmed at the Australian Technology Park in Eveleigh. Anyone with a passing knowledge of Sydney geography will know that’s not on the Northern Beaches.
Before the sets moved to Eveleigh, Home and Away was shot at the Seven studios in Epping. But the whole point of Home and Away is that it is set in a sunny beach community, with lots of sunny beach scenes.
Home and Away at Palm Beach
Home and Away’s outdoor scenes are filmed on the Northern Beaches. Specifically, Palm Beach at the top of the Barrenjoey Peninsula.
The show sometimes uses other spots around Sydney for filming, but Palm Beach has been the regular stand-in for Summer Bay since Home and Away started in 1988.
Regular viewers will probably recognise the Palm Bay beach, which is one of the best beaches in Sydney.
North Palm Beach Surf Lifesaving Club
Perhaps even more famous, however, is the Summer Bay Surf Club. Any Home and Away fans wanting to get a photo outside the famous surf club should head to Palm Beach.
The North Palm Beach Surf Lifesaving Club doubles up as the Summer Bay Surf Club, and has the Summer Bay sign above the entrance. This comes complete with the section saying “Club Official A. Stewart”.
