Barrenjoey House, Sydney: Palm Beach restaurant menu & accommodation

Barrenjoey House in Sydney is primarily a seafood restaurant, and has a great location on Pittwater. This Palm Beach restaurant also offers pricy Northern Beaches accommodation.

Barrenjoey House is one of several reasons to make your way to the top of Sydney’s Northern Beaches. That Palm Beach is one of the top beaches in the city is merely a bonus…

If you’re looking for Barrenjoey House at the beach, however, you’re in the wrong place. This Palm Beach restaurant is on the Pittwater side of the suburb, facing the Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park over the water. It’s very close to Palm Beach Wharf, where the ferries to Ettalong, Bennetts and Mackerel Beach depart from.

This Palm Beach restaurant is visually impressive, with flowers and plants seemingly clambering all over the place. It’s a relatively stylish, well-to-do place, but it’s not a snooty, formal one. The Barrenjoey House manages to straddle that line between casual drop-in and occasion meal pretty well.

Barrenjoey House menu

The Barrenjoey House menu leans strongly towards fish, with options including beer-battered flathead and chips, tuna linguine and whole rainbow trout. The meat-eaters can tuck into an eye fillet, but this is really the sort of place to tuck into barramundi or lobster risotto on a sunny day.

Main courses aren’t cheap – prices range from $33 to $42.

The full menu is available on the restaurant website.

Palm Beach accommodation

Barrenjoey House also offers accommodation. There are seven guest rooms above the restaurant, all of which are done up in a bright, faintly nautical style. They come with timber floors, marble vanities and complimentary mini bars. If that sounds suspiciously like a hotel playing up supposed boutique qualities in a bid to justify expensive room rates, you’d be correct. Rates start at $350 per night excluding breakfast.
