Hugo’s Manly: Menu, prices, pizza options & location

On Manly Wharf, the Hugo’s Manly menu offers Italian dishes with a modern twist, and highly-rated, but expensive, pizzas.

Hugo’s Manly is one of the most appealingly-located restaurants in Sydney. This waterside restaurant is on Manly Wharf, where the Manly ferry arrives from Circular Quay.

That harbourside location plays a major part in the cool factor at Hugo’s Manly, but the food isn’t half bad either.

Hugo’s Manly menu

The Hugo’s Manly menu leans Italian, but there’s nothing starchily traditional about it. The aim is to present contemporary Italian-flavoured dishes, but often with Australian ingredients such as Yamba king prawns and Queensland spanner crab.

Some dishes have a stronger Italian taste than others. For example, the slow-cooked lamb ragout with pappardelle pasta, green peas, celeriac, carrot and grated pecorino cheese, doesn’t stray too far from what you might see in Italy.

Other dishes on the Hugo’s Manly menu, however, veer wildly off the Italian template. The crispy skin barramundi, sweet potato & ginger mash with coconut, chilli and lime sauce is a pretty strong example, here.

Hugo’s Manly pizzas

The Hugo’s Manly pizzas have an excellent reputation, and they too throw Italian traditionalism out of the window. Options include a slow-roasted pork belly pizza with sweet and sour onions, or a fig pizza with pancetta, gorgonzola and apple balsamic dressing.

The prices at Hugo’s Manly aren’t cheap, however. The pizzas cost between $30 and $36, while main courses are priced between $38 and $60. You are, of course, paying partly for the location.
