Archie Rose bar in Rosebery

The bar is right next to the original distillery in Rosebery, which is just to the north-east of Sydney Airport. The Rosebery distillery opened in 2014, although it has since been superseded by a bigger production facility 4km to the south in Botany.

Flanked by a wall of whisky casks, the bar offers the full Archie Rose spirits range. But it also serves up experimental, unreleased products.

It’s not entirely an in-house affair, either. The bar serves a selection of local craft beers and biodynamic wines from other drinks specialists.

Archie Rose masterclasses and distillery tours

The Archie Rose bar also hosts a series of experiences. These include whisky masterclasses, where you can learn about Australian whiskies or blend your own. There are also gin masterclasses along similar lines, and cocktail classes. In these cocktail classes, you’re taught how to make three classic cocktails, before sitting back to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

It’s also possible to do a distillery tour at the Rosebery property. The main production facility may have moved, but the original equipment is still in place. The tours include a tasting session at the end. Book via the Archie Rose website.
