Warragul to Traralgon drive: Distance, driving time and road trip attractions

The Warragul to Traralgon drive in Victoria, Australia, takes around 42 minutes to cover a 61km distance. Road trip attractions on the way from Warragul to Traralgon include the Trafalgar Holden Museum and Old Gippstown in Moe.

The Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia, is surprisingly large, but many of the largest towns are concentrated in the west and centre of Gippsland. These include Warragul and Traralgon, two medium-sized towns that act as regional centres.

Warragul to Traralgon distance and driving time

The Warragul to Traralgon drive is largely along the Princes Highway, which comes from Melbourne and heads through Gippsland via underwhelming towns such as Yarragon. It’s a distance of 61km, leading to a Warragul to Traralgon driving time of around 42 minutes. Obviously this is a short enough journey to ensure you don’t have to worry about building in a stop along the way.

However, if you’re on a leisurely road trip through Gippsland, there are a few attractions that might grab your interest.

Warragul to Traralgon drive: Trafalgar Holden Museum and Old Gippstown

The first town of interest along the Princes Highway is Trafalgar. Here, you might want to divert off the highway to see the Trafalgar Holden Museum, Uralla Nature Reserve or Mount Speed Lookout. You can also divert a little further to Narracan Falls – a great swimming spot.

Before you reach Moe on the Warragul to Traralgon drive, you’ll pass the Summit. This adventure park is more aimed at school groups than the general public, alas.

Moe attractions include Old Gippstown – a reconstructed township and open air museum – and the Moe Botanical Gardens.

Princes Highway attractions in Morwell

After Moe comes Morwell. Things to do in Morwell include exploring the Gippsland Immigration Park, which tells the story of immigration in the region. And, if you’re really into power stations, you can try the PowerWorks Energy Education Centre. It’s all about coal and electricity, but is very much a case of a power station trying to justify its existence by doing something community-minded.
