Little Cove, Noosa: Surfing, swimming, facilities and accommodation

Little Cove in Noosa, Queensland, is a small beach near the Noosa National Park. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in quality. Don’t expect amazing surf, however.

Little Cove, Noosa, is a beach that gets overshadowed somewhat. After all, the famous Sunshine Coast resort town has some epic beaches. Noosa Main Beach is one of the most popular in Queensland, Sunshine Beach is great for surfers and Teewah Beach on the Noosa North Shore is home to 4WD adventurers.

If I can do just one thing in Noosa, what should it be?

The Great Beach Drive – a four wheel drive adventure up Teewah Beach towards Double Island Point – is fantastic on its own. To go kayaking with dolphins as part of the same trip makes for a genuinely superb day out.

Take it as a massive personal recommendation – the Great Beach Drive plus Kayaking With Dolphins day tour should be at the top of your Noosa wishlist.

Where is Little Cove, Noosa?

Little Cove Beach is the next beach east of Noosa Main Beach. It’s often mistakenly regarded as being part of Noosa National Park, but it’s not quite within the park boundaries. Little Cove is along Park Road, just before the national park entrance.

Little Cove Beach is relatively safe for swimming – you don’t tend to encounter many rips here. But surfers are likely to be disappointed as waves don’t get very high at the beach itself. Johnson Point at the western end, however, sometimes provides a point break – known to the surfing community as Johnsons.
