Noah Beach, Queensland: Camping in the Daintree

Noah Beach, Queensland: Camping in the Daintree

Camping at Noah Beach, Queensland, lets you pitch a tent next to the sand inside the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest.

Where is Noah Beach, Queensland?

Noah Beach is a beach in the Daintree Rainforest, Queensland. It is around 5.8km south of Cape Tribulation, and 28km north of the Daintree River Ferry crossing. The Marrdja Boardwalk is nearby.

Travellers are most likely to encounter Noah Beach on the drive from Cairns to Cape Tribulation.

Is Noah Beach safe for swimming?

Noah Beach is not safe for swimming. This doesn’t stop some people swimming there, but this is deep in crocodile country, and you can never be entirely sure what’s in the water with you.

There are also marine stingers to contend with, particularly during the wet season.

While by no means a surf beach, Noah Beach does get slightly more surf than most beaches on this stretch of the coast.

5 Daintree experiences worth booking in advance

Noah Beach camping

Noah Beach is best known as one of the few places you can camp next to the beach in the Daintree rainforest.

This Noah Beach camping experience is rustic, but there are 15 sites available. There are composting toilets on-site, but no showers, barbecues or other amenities. This is a campground designed for self-sufficient bush campers.

Generators and open fires are not allowed, so campers should bring their own fuel stoves. The site is not suitable for large campervans.

Campers should also use goanna poles for storing food, or risk losing it to the goannas that live here.
