Brisbane to Adelaide road trip: Moree and Narrabri

It’s another 116km from Goondiwindi to Moree, New South Wales. That drive crosses the border and heads along the Newell Highway and there’s not an awful lot to see on the way. In Moree, you can visit the surprisingly good Bank Art Museum, swim at the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre and go birdwatching at the Waterbird Lagoon hide in the Gwydir Wetlands State Conservation Area. Try the Jackaroo Apartments or the Albert Spa Motel for an overnight stay.

But it’s tempting to push on another hour and 15 minutes to Narrabri, perhaps making a minor detour into Mount Kaputar National Park. The Sawn Rocks walking track and Waa Gorge walking track are reasonably close to the Newell Highway if you want to get active here.

Suggested Narrabri attractions: The giant radio telescopes of the Australia Telescope Compact Array and Narrabri Old Gaol and Museum.
