The Prospector Train is operated by Transwa, and on most days there is one daily service each way. On Mondays and Fridays, when lots of workers move between the two cities, there are two services in each direction.

Perth to Kalgoorlie train timetable

Every day except Sunday, the Prospector train departs from East Perth station at 7.10am. It arrives in Kalgoorlie at 2pm – that’s a journey time of six hours and 50 minutes. The second services on Monday and Friday leave at 3.15pm, while the Sunday service departs at 2.10pm.

In the other direction, the Kalgoorlie to Perth train normally leaves at 7.05am, arriving in Perth at 1.45pm. The extra Monday and Friday services leave at 3pm and the Sunday service leaves at 2.05pm. This takes only about ten minutes longer than the drive from Kalgoorlie to Perth.

Prospector train fares and stops

The Prospector train is also a feasible way of getting to several Wheatbelt towns in Western Australia. After departing Perth, it stops at Midland, Toodyay, Northam, Meckering, Cunderdin,

Tammin and Kellerberrin. It then continues to Doodlakine, Hines Hill, Merredin, Burracoppin, Carrabin, Bodallin, Moorine Rock, Southern Cross, Koolyanobbing and Bonnie Vale.
