The Fingal Bay caravan park is worth a look if you’re in need of cheap accommodation in Port Stephens, New South Wales.

On the downside, there’s the location. The Fingal Bay caravan park is in Fingal Bay, which is a lovely quiet spot with a pleasant beach. But it’s a little out of the action. It’s a 4km walk to the Shoal Bay Country Club and a little further to the Tomaree Head Summit Walk.

For other Port Stephens hotspots, such as Samurai Beach, Salamander Bay, the dolphin-watching tours in Nelson Bay and camel tours in Anna Bay, you’re realistically going to have to drive.

Fingal Bay caravan park facilities

But the Fingal Bay caravan park – or Fingal Bay Holiday Park as it is officially known – does have good facilities. Along with the usual picnic areas, barbecues, camp kitchen and guest laundries, there’s an impressively large resort-style pool.

This NSW caravan park also has a children’s playground, and a kids’ activity programme during the summer holidays.

There’s also a range of accommodation styles at the Fingal Bay Holiday Park. Powered tent and campervan sites cost from $49 per night, while en-suite tent sites start from $78 per night.

The Fingal Bay caravan park also offers cabins, which come with two bedrooms and a kitchenette. There’s also a small decking area with outdoor furniture. These cabins cost from $170 per night.

Fingal Bay Holiday Park villas

At the more luxurious end of the scale, there are garden villas, beach houses and surf villas. Prices for this Port Stephens accommodation – aimed at families and groups – start at $210 per night.

The more eagle-eyed will notice that these rates aren’t especially cheap by Australian caravan park standards. If price is of primary importance, you might want to look elsewhere.
