The Balconies is a scenic lookout in the Grampians National Park, Victoria. It is one of the most popular attractions in the Grampians, largely because you only need to do a short walk to reach it.

The lookout gets its name from the rock ledges that stick out over the Victoria Valley below.

Where is the Balconies?

The Balconies is just off the Mt Victory Road, which runs to the west of Halls Gap – the most popular holiday town in the region. It is between two highly visited sections of the park. Silverband Falls, Splitters Falls, the Venus Baths, Lake Bellfield and the Pinnacle Lookout are to the east nearer Halls Gap. Mackenzie Falls, Fish Falls and Lake Wartook are to the north-east, further along the Mt Victory Road towards Zumsteins.

How long is the Balconies walk?

The walk to the Balconies is a relatively simple one, and is 2km long. It starts at the Reed Lookout car park and continues along a rocky path until you reach the Balconies.

Much of the appeal comes from how much of the Grampians National Park you can see from the top. On a clear day, you can see Mt Sturgeon to the south and Mt Difficult to the north.

Is it worth visiting the Balconies?

It’s not worth going to the Grampians just for the Balconies Lookout, but if you’re going anyway, it’s well worth trying to squeeze the Balconies in on the way to Mackenzie Falls.
