Burger Urge: What’s on the menu at this Australian burger chain?

The Burger Urge menu offers gourmet burgers – with some commendable vegan burger choices. There are outlets of this Australian burger chain in cities including Mackay, Armidale, Bundaberg and Port Macquarie.

Burger Urge is one of several small Australian chains that don’t have the name recognition elsewhere in the world.

This Australian burger restaurant chain started out life in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, back in 2007. It has since grown to have more than two dozen outlets across the country. The majority of these Burger Urge restaurants are in New South Wales and Queensland, but there is one in Wodonga, Victoria. There’s also a gourmet burger outlet in Palmerston, just outside Darwin in the Northern Territory.

Burger Urge restaurants in Queensland outside Brisbane include those in Mackay, Bundaberg, Gladstone and Rockhampton. In New South Wales, you can find a Burger Urge in Dubbo, Tamworth, Armidale, Forster and Port Macquarie.

As with pretty much every gourmet burger chain, Burger Urge, boasts of using fresh, quality ingredients. But this Australian chain also tries to do something different with the burgers.

The signature burger on the Burger Urge menu is the Cali, which comes with a premium beef patty, cheese, red onion, tomato, lettuce and special burger sauce. But you can get it in a double or even triple burger version.

Other beef burgers include the Big Boppa, which comes with egg, pineapple, beetroot, red onion, smoky BBQ sauce and aioli.

There are chicken burgers on the Burger Urge menu, too, but perhaps the greatest invention is in the vegan burgers. The Bad Boy Chi Chi, for example, has a vegetable patty made from sweet potato, kale, chickpea and rice. There’s also rocket, avocado, tomato, red onion, red onion, jalapenos, ranch dressing and salsa.
