Brisbane to Adelaide road trip: Queensland section

The drive from Toowoomba to Goondiwindi is largely along the Gore Highway. Millmerran is the most appealing town along the way – there are murals painted over several buildings and you can get good views from the Commodores Peak Lookout.

You can also stop for a stroll in Domville State Forest or Wondul Range National Park, but neither feels in any way essential.

Goondiwindi is a prosperous cotton town with a strong local history museum and an arty streak. The green spaces bloom with gorgeous jacaranda trees.

Suggested Goondiwindi attractions: Customs House Museum, Goondiwindi Art and Sculpture Trail, Goondiwindi Botanic Gardens.
