Where is Currarong Beach?

Currarong Beach is the main beach in Currarong, New South Wales. It is on the northern side of the Beecroft Peninsula, Jervis Bay, and is one of the most attractive beaches in the northern part of the region.

This Jervis Bay beach sweeps for 3.6km, stretching from Hammerhead Point in the north to Currarong Creek. Currarong Beach faces north at the southern end of Crookhaven Bight, and swings round to face north-east at the top.

Surfing at Currarong Beach, NSW

Currarong Beach is relatively sheltered, and doesn’t attract massive waves. Surfers are going to be better off trying elsewhere, although they may be in luck if there’s a south-east swell.

The southern end of Currarong Beach is a good bet for swimming, while kayakers tend to enjoy paddling in Currarong Creek. You’ll also find a few small fishing boats here.

The village of Currarong is behind the southern edge of Currarong Beach. It’s a laid-back holiday spot, with just enough accommodation and dining options to make it not feel like a complete backwater. Alma’s Currarong Kombi Café is the closest food and drink option to the beach. The Salet Wines winery is within easy walking distance, too.

Currarong Beach accommodation

The main accommodation at Currarong Beach is the Holiday Haven caravan park, which offers cabins as well as powered sites.

Currarong is one of the most attractive bases in the Jervis Bay area, although you may prefer Myola on Callala Beach, or busier Huskisson and Vincentia. Other Jervis Bay beaches worth checking out include Greenfield Beach, Blenheim Beach and Hyams Beach. There’s also Iluka Beach, Murrays Beach and Cave Beach in the little-known Jervis Bay Territory.

On the Beecroft Peninsula, the best alternatives are Long Beach and Honeymoon Bay.
