Long Beach, Jervis Bay, NSW

Long Beach, Jervis Bay, NSW

On the Beecroft Peninsula, Long Beach in Jervis Bay is a 2km white sand beach protected from ocean swells and ideal for swimming.

Long Beach, Jervis Bay, is one of the most attractive beaches on New South Wales’ Beecroft Peninsula.

It has the white sand that Jervis Bay is famous for. But this Beecroft Peninsula beach doesn’t get a fraction of the visitors that the likes of Hyams Beach, Huskisson Beach, Blenheim Beach and Callala Beach get.

This is partly because much of the Beecroft Peninsula is a military facility. Travellers tend not to venture here because they’re never quite certain if there’s weapons-testing going on.

They needn’t worry, though. The weapons-testing happens further south. Famously pretty Honeymoon Bay is sometimes closed off, but Long Beach remains safely out of harm’s way.

Can you swim at Long Beach, Jervis Bay?

Along with the white sand, Long Beach also gets the photo-friendly turquoise water. The water at Long Beach is usually calm, too, and ideal for swimming in.

Because Long Beach faces south-west and has the Beecroft Peninsula behind it, ocean swell hardly ever has an impact here. It’s about as duckpond-esque as an Australian beach gets.

This makes Long Beach ideal for kayaking, snorkelling and stand-up paddleboarding as well as swimming.

Jervis Bay dolphin cruises often pass by here, too. So keep an eye out for dolphins if you’re on the beach.
