Greenwell Point, NSW, is a small fishing town surrounded by waterways in the Shoalhaven region of New South Wales. It’s around 15km east of Nowra on the South Coast.

The Crookhaven River, Berrys Canal and Shaws Creek all converge here, although Greenwell Point isn’t technically on the coast. If you want beach time, you’re better off in neighbouring Culburra Beach.

Things to do in Greenwell Point: Boating and kayaking

The waterways are ideal for boating and kayaking – Greenwell Point has three boat ramps. Meanwhile, there’s a wide footpath running along the waterfront, which makes it a pleasant place for a walk or jog.

But top of the list of things to do in Greenwell Point is eating seafood. The fishing industry here means that the fish is deliciously fresh.

Pelican Rocks Café in Greenwell Point, NSW

The Pelican Rocks Seafood Restaurant and Café has been voted as doing the best fish and chips in New South Wales. It naturally focuses on seafood, but also serves breakfasts and coffees.

In the winter months, there’s an undercover area with heating. For the rest of the year, it’s much more atmospheric to sit outside. The outside area is mercifully protected from the wind.

The other seafood Greenwell Point is famous for is the oysters. There are several oyster farms here, some of which are open to visitors. Jim’s Wild Oysters at 17 Greens Road is the top spot to rock up to, and order oysters straight from source.
