Gipsy Point is a small village in the far east of Victoria. It’s just off the Princes Highway on the Mallacoota-Genoa Road. You’ll drive past on the way in to Mallacoota, East Gippsland.

Gipsy Point is mainly about the water. It’s at the meeting point of the Genoa and Wallagaraugh Rivers, which eventually run into the Mallacoota Inlet. All this water, and the pretty much untouched surroundings, makes Gipsy Point a fabulous place for fishing.

Other things to do in Gipsy Point, Victoria, include kayaking. The Gipsy Point Lodge offers kayaks for hire, costing from $70 per half day or $90 per full day.

These kayaks are ideal for fishermen who prefer to reel in while out on the water, rather than standing on the banks. Perch, garfish and mulloway are among the species regularly caught here.

What to do in Gipsy Point: Wildlife

Gipsy Point makes as good a base as any for exploring the eastern end of the Croajingolong National Park. But you don’t have to venture very far to see wild animals.

Kangaroos, wallabies, water dragons, gliders and goannas are regularly seen around the village. You’ll probably hear the kookaburras laughing away in the morning, too.
