Arrawarra, NSW: Surfing and other things to do

Arrawarra, NSW, has one of the best point breaks in Australia. Surfers love this Coffs Coast town so much that the Spot X Surf Camp is based there.

To drivers, Arrawarra at the northern end of the Coffs Coast is where the Pacific Highway turns inland. To surfers, it’s a whole lot more than that.

Arrawarra, NSW, lies to the north of Woolgoolga and Coffs Harbour on the Mid-North Coast. It’s essentially a small coastal village, but one blessed with marvellous beaches.

Things to do in Arrawarra, NSW: Arrawarra Beach and Corindi Beach

There are officially two beaches in Arrawarra, NSW, but Corindi Beach and Arrawarra Beach essentially merge into one epic sweep. Arrawarra Beach is at the southern end near the Arrawarra Headland. Corindi Beach is the rest of it heading north.

Arrawarra Headland offers marvellous views out over the Solitary Islands Marine Park, but it’s the surf breaks that most visitors will be interested in. Waves break over the reefs, generally pretty consistently, making for an excellent point break.

The quality of the surf is why Mojosurf Australia picked Arrawarra as the home for its Spot X Surf Camp. This is the sort of place that travellers who want more than just an introductory surf lesson should be looking at.

The Spot X Surf Camp is right on Arrawarra Beach, and is set up for visitors who want to live the surf lifestyle. Accommodation is in dorm-style cabins or tipis, meals are included, and there are surfing lessons every day.

The hostel-esque accommodation also includes an entertainment area, movie room and hammocks. Other activities that can be organised via the Spot X Surf Camp include surf rafting and river kayaking.

Other highlights of the Coffs Coast include Moonee Beach, Treetops Coffs Harbour in Korora and kangaroo-spotting at Emerald Beach.
